X Factor Rowetta joins Gaydio

Manchester's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans community radio station returns next week for a third temporary broadcast. Gaydio will operate on an RSL licence from August 6th to September 2nd, and has signed Rowetta of X Factor fame and Terry Longden from The Salon to host the drivetime programme.

Larger than life Rowetta shot to fame as ‘the last woman standing’ on the first series of ITV’s The X Factor in 2004. Her big voice and straight talking, no nonsense personality won the hearts of the nation, and her mentor Simon Cowell. She then went on to release a self titled solo album, and has since been singing live up and down the country, including many charity gigs and gay pride events. Currently working on original solo material, the former Happy Mondays backing singer recently presented a show on BBC Radio Manchester.

Terry Longden is most famous for his appearance on Channel 4 reality show The Salon where he stayed for a total of 25 weeks. Terry is the nephew of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, and has worked as a stylist for his uncle on tour, as well as for his cousin Kelly, on her European tour.

Rowetta and Terry are both extremely excited about their involvement with the forthcoming Gaydio broadcast. Terry said ‘I cannot wait. It’s going to be the most fun show on Manchester's airwaves and we intend to get people throughout Manchester bopping away in their cars’. Rowetta added ‘It’s going to be great, I was involved in the station a bit last time and I’m so glad to have been asked back.’

Both Terry and Rowetta will be at Gaydio’s launch party to be held at headline sponsor, AXM-Bar, Canal Street, Manchester on Friday 3rd August from 8pm.
