BBC 6 Music producer fired

A producer from the Liz Kershaw show on BBC 6 Music has been given the boot after BBC staff admitted broadcasting a pre-recorded competition as live on the national digital station.

But broadcast union Bectu has accused the BBC of singling out junior staff, and has said that the producer would be appealing against the decision. Bectu assistant general secretary Luke Crawley said the mocked-up fake competitions, which used friends and family of staff, had been taking place long before the dismissed producer joined.
