Xfm poaches Kerrang! duo

GCap Media has hired Kerrang! 105.2's deputy programme director Mike Newman to fill the new position of PC at Xfm South Wales, RadioToday.co.uk can reveal. In addition, Emma Newman, who has been with Kerrang! since launch, will move to Cardiff as music scheduler.

Mike has previously worked for GCap as breakfast producer at Mercia FM, and is looking forward to his return to the group: "I couldn't be more excited about joining Xfm South Wales. Wales has such a great music scene and it's about time there was a radio station to reflect it. I can't wait to get started."

Emma Newman was recently voted Music Programmer of the Year at the Music Week Awards. She said "I can’t wait to start working for Xfm South Wales. I feel really lucky to be given an opportunity to work in an area that is so passionate about brand new guitar music and the prospect of being involved in that really excites me."

Commenting on the appointments, the managing director of the Xfm network, Nick Davidson added: "We are really looking forward to welcoming Mike and Emma to South Wales and the Xfm stable – they are two really strong additions to our programming team. They will be working closely with Xfm’s network programming director Ande Macpherson and Xfm’s head of music Mike Walsh to ensure that the station sounds really fresh and exciting when it hits the airwaves of South Wales later in the year.”

Xfm will continue to fill their other positions ready for one million pound launch at the end of the year.
