Another fake BBC Radio caller

The BBC has released a statement saying a fake caller was used during Jo Whiley's show at BBC Radio 1 on April 20th 2006. It happened during a pre-recorded segment of the show, and BBC bosses insist Jo had no idea the caller was the producer, rather than a geniune member of the audience.

A number of staff members have been disiplined but no one has been fired over the incident.

BBC bosses have reported the incident to the Trust, who are satisfied that management is taking appropriate action in light of this finding and that the breach raises no new issues which require any change to the Director-General's action plan.

"The Editorial Standards Committee will continue to receive regular reports on progress before the Director-General concludes his work and reports to the Trust in January," they said today in a statement.
