BBC Somerset Sound goes FM

The programmes of BBC Somerset are set to make the switch to FM. The station, which launched in 1988 has only ever been heard on medium wave but will make use of Radio Bristol’s 95.5 frequency at Mendip from December 3rd.

BBC Radio Bristol is advising listeners to re-tune to 94.9 to continue to hear local programmes, or 104.6 in the Bath area.

BBC Somerset was born in April 1988, originally broadcasting on 1323 AM, and is now based opposite County Hall in Taunton. The station currently offers local programmes at breakfast, mid-morning and drivetime.
