CanWest MediaWorks UK have made two senior appointments to manage their growing UK radio business. Jonathan Arendt and Richard Johnson joined the company on Monday, and will both report to managing director Rick Hetherington.
Jonathan Arendt has taken up the position of Managing Director of the Original Radio Group with responsibility for the local Original stations in Solent, Bristol and Aberdeen and direct oversight of the national digital service due to launch summer 2008.
Richard Johnson has been appointed as Director Operations and Programming for the Group and will oversee all local and national output, including direct day to day responsibility at the new national digital service due to launch on the national digital multiplex recently awarded to the Channel 4 radio led consortium.
As Seven Broadcast, Jonathan and Richard have worked closely with CanWest over the past three years running the licence application programme under which CanWest became the first non-European company to be awarded a radio licence in the UK.
On announcing the appointments Rick Hetherington, said “We have worked with Jonathan and Richard for a number of years and I am delighted that they are now joining us and bringing their many years of radio expertise to assist in the growth of Original”.
