Power cut kills DAB services

A power-cut in the Greater Manchester area has silenced a number of radio stations broadcasting digitally. The loss of power, on Wednesday at 7:30pm, cut feeds to services using the CE multiplex in Lancashire, Liverpool and Manchester, along with MXR northwest.

The power failure also left around 86,000 homes without power in the region, mostly in Manchester city centre, Salford and Bury. Radio stations themselves based in Manchester and Salford Quays are not thought to be affected.

Police say power has been restored to most homes. DAB services were back on-air by 9:30pm.
