FM107.9 gets into schools

Oxford's FM107.9 is swapping the studio chair for the school yard, taking The Breakfast Fiasco on location for an entire week.

The station has joined forces with the Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust to talk directly to local teenagers about their health, how to improve it and how to maintain it.
The Breakfast Fiasco team will be visiting ten schools in the Oxford area with a fun and interactive ‘info-tainment’ quiz show. The focus is on healthy eating and exercise, talking directly to young adults at an important point in their lives and giving them the information they need to improve their health while they are still young, and maintain those practices and attitudes.
Ian Walker , programme director for Oxford’s FM107.9 said: ‘The Way I Are’ shows how powerful and effective local radio is at getting through to teenagers in the Oxford area. Local radio isn’t just about playing great music, it’s also about making a link to the local community. Interacting with our audience is what we’re good at – it’s even better when we do something that may really change their lives.’
