Original 106 managing director John Evington has left the CanWest MediaWorks station after almost two years with the company. John joined as launch programme director in Southampton and was later appointed managing director whilst helping CanWest launch two further stations in Bristol and Aberdeen.
Audience share at Original 106 has always been lower than the group expected, failing to rise above two per cent reach but it is not known if this is the reason for the management changes. In their licence application the station was projected to reach 14 per cent of the adult population within three years of launch.
Prior to his appointment at Original, John was previously group programme director of The Wireless Group, and has worked at Piccadilly Radio, BBC Radio 2 and Signal Radio.
