No return for Phil Wood

BBC Radio Manchester presenter Phil Wood is leaving the corporation next month when his contract ends, RadioToday.co.uk can exclusively reveal.

He will not return to air following his suspension in January after he was involved in an apparent hit and run accident. The BBC asked the broadcaster to step down from his position as presenter of the late show on Radio Manchester until further investigations were made.
A spokesperson told RadioToday.co.uk: "Phil Wood is leaving BBC Radio Manchester when his contract finishes in March as part of a longstanding planned schedule change. In the meantime he will not be reappearing on the air."
A new late show with Sam Walker started on Monday between 10pm and 1am.
Reports said Phil was involved in an incident in Stretford last year, apparently leaving a man at the side of the road after he struck him with his car. Phil contacted the police shortly after the incident, saying he thought he may have been involved in an accident but had not stopped because he thought the person involved was attempting to steal his car.
Phil wood is a much loved and established broadcaster in the region having previously worked at Piccadilly Radio for over a decade. His profile has already been removed from the BBC Radio Manchester website.
