The Local Radio Company has gained Ofcom approval to relocate four radio stations with close neighbours, and allow eight stations to share weekday daytime output. Stations allowed to move out of town are Vale FM, Arrow FM, Mix 96 and 3TR FM.
This means four TLRC stations have permission to co-locate to a studio outside of their transmissions areas.
The changes will occur at:
- 3TR FM in Warminster, which can co-locate at, and share six hours of weekday daytime hours with Spire FM in Sailsbury
- Vale FM in Shaftesbury, which can co-locate at, and share six of ten daytime hours with Wessex FM in Dorchester
- Arrow FM in Hastings, which can co-locate at, and share six of ten daytime hours with Sovereign FM in Eastbourne
- Mix 96 in Aylesbury, which can co-locate at, and share six of ten daytime hours with Mix 107 in High Wycombe
In making the application for 3TR FM, regional programme controller Steve Bulley stated:"We are confident that our audience will experience no noticeable change to what they hear from their local radio station. We don't anticipate an adverse reaction to our plans."
Also, although the station is not slated to co-locate, Alpha FM in Darlington now has approval to share four out of ten daytime hours with Durham FM.
