Central names programme controller

Peak 107 programme controller Chris Buckley is making the move from Chesterfield to Preston to take charge of programming at UTV's new Lancashire station, Central Radio.

Chris joined UTV Radio’s Peak FM as programme controller in 2006 and was named UTV Radio programmer of the year in 2007 and earlier this month he was named the north and northeast programmer of the year in the X-Trax British Radio Awards 2008.
Speaking of his appointment, Chris said: “Having built a fantastic team at Peak FM in Chesterfield, which has resulted in great audience figures, I'm now ready to take on the exciting opportunity of launching Central Radio across Lancashire.
“I know Preston, Chorley and Leyland well and can't wait to bring a much-needed, fresh sounding radio station to the area that will truly be in touch with its audience.”
Buckley’s radio career began at Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio in the 1980’s. Since then, he has been head of music at Galaxy Manchester, head of presentation for the Heart Digital Network as well as launching Dee 106.3 in Chester.
Central Radio will launch on 106.5 later this year.
