NME starts testing on Sky

NME Radio has started test transmissions on Sky channel 0184, with the help of transmission company WRN. The alternative music station is set to launch via a number of platforms on June 24th.

Sammy Jacob, who was [link=https://radiotoday.co.uk/news.php?extend.2779]hired last year[/link] to build the station will co-ordinate the launches, which includes using channel 975 on Virgin Media.
Jacob has hired former colleague and Xfm presenter Claire Sturgess to present a daily show, along with Neil Cole, currently the presenter of the World Rally Championship on DAVE, and Chris Martin. The weekend DJ line-up includes Nick Luscombe, Edward Adoo, Ben Osbourne, Nick New and Sarah Kerr.
A special two-hour show by Ricky Gervais will help kick-off the station on launch day.
Marina Lois, product development manager at WRN, says: “WRN is proud to be partnering with DX Media to launch this fantastic new station and to add the NME brand to WRN’s growing portfolio.”
Sammy Jacob says “Working with WRN has been (and is) a real pleasure. They have provided a 360 degree service including all our EPG requirements and dedicated landlines for our online activities.”
