Original 106 sold to management

Original 106fm in Aberdeen has been sold by Canwest Media. It follows the company confirming speculation that its three UK radio operations were up for sale.
The station will continue to operate under the brand name Original FM under a licence agreement with Canwest.

The station, which launched less than nine months ago, has been bought by Jonathan Arendt and Richard Johnson. They are joined by current managing director Iamn McKenna.
Canwest confirmed they are still in talks with a number of parties in respect to its other UK radio operations.
Iain McKenna said, “This is a fantastic opportunity, both for me personally and the radio station. We look forward to continuing to build the business over the coming years. I believe we present a real choice for listeners and advertisers in the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire areas.”
A spokesperson for Canwest said: "We thank the employees of Aberdeen for their superb efforts to launch and operate the station."
"The station launched on-time and has exceeded all of its financial benchmarks in providing Aberdeen a strong alternative service."
