Presenter switch at BBC Tees

Afternoon presenter John Foster is to change roles at BBC Tees with breakfast host Matthew Davies. In addition, Alastair Brownlee will host a new sports show each evening.

John said: "Although I've loved doing the afternoons, I've missed doing a breakfast show, there's just nothing like the buzz of knowing you're part of so many people's lives. And it's an honour to take over from Matty at a time when BBC Tees is really hitting its stride."
"We're going to tap into all the humour and excitement of sport, but without the need to give airtime to other regional teams that people in our part of the North East don't care about," Alasrair said about his new 6-8pm weekday show.
BBC Tees editor Matthew Barraclough: "One thing we know is that radio listeners on Teesside want something that's dedicated to them and which reflects life as it's being lived right here, right now. You can't do that if you're based 40 miles away, or worse, if your shows come from a studio in London.
"In John and Ali we have two guys who are talented enough to work anywhere in the UK, but who choose to work here because they love it. And that's what BBC local radio should be about."
