The Virgin's last hurrah

The last set of figures before Virgin Radio is likely to disappear from the industry will be encouraging news for new owners TIML.

In London, Virgin has 1.01 million listeners and 5.94 million hours, while nationally the AM station increased both its reach (1.507 million to 1.524 million) and total hours (8.133 million to 8.403 million).
Including FM, AM and solus digital services, the Virgin network has 2.65 million weekly listeners and 15.88 million hours.
Meanwhile GCap's national station Classic FM added over half a million hours of listening (now 39.3 million) although reach dropped from 5.62 million to 5.47 million.
Finally, national AM service talkSPORT lost reach (2.47 million to 2.38 million) and total hours (19.73 million to 18.99 million).
