Sixteen GCap Media stations are expecting to cause a rush of motorists at local garages wanting free fuel each Friday, as part of a network-wide promotion.
The eight week feature, called Free Fuel Friday, invites listeners to collect their share of £500 free fuel every Friday, starting on 08/08/08.
A different petrol station, in each of The One Network’s broadcasting areas, will be chosen every week and its location will be announced live during the drive time show telling listeners which petrol station to hurry down to. The promotion will also involve pre-promote teasers on Wednesday and Thursday of each week, enticing listeners to tune in on Fridays to claim their free fuel.
Capital 95.8 will invite Londoner’s to text in every Friday and 100 lucky winners will be selected to receive £50 worth of petrol.
It is estimated that the promotion will generate so much interest from listeners that sponsors Norwich Union and The One Network will give away £64,000 worth of fuel throughout the eight weeks.
The deal was brokered by GCap Media’s sponsorship and promotions account manager Lilly Tugwell and OMD UK’s associate communications director Anita Wilkins, Ricardo Amboage – direct communications planner and radio buyer Nicole Blass.
