Tower FM backs X-Factor local

Tower FM has arranged a deal with the producers of The X-Factor to support Bolton contestant and include her on the station's breakfast show each Monday.

It means Laura can give listeners a glimpse of life behind the scenes on the show. The station is also due to be featured on Xtra Factor after a film crew spent the afternoon at the Bolton-based studios.
Laura's dad Adrian and mum Sharon now have a weekly slot on Tower FM every Friday morning and local car dealership Lythgoe, has supplied a luxury seven-seater car to help Laura’s family with the weekly 400 mile round trip from their home in Atherton, Lancs, to the studios in north London where the live shows are staged.
Proud father Adrian, 50, said today: “The response has been overwhelming but it has been a snowball effect. At the beginning, we were knocking on doors and asking shopkeepers to put up ‘Vote Laura’ posters. Now, I’ve got the national Press and magazines calling me every day.
“It used to take half an hour to take the dog for a walk but now it is more like an hour and a half because everyone keeps stopping me to wish Laura good luck.
“She was a bit down in the first week living with strangers but after her first live TV performance she's really on a high. We are a very close family and still go on holidays together."
Mike Baker, senior station director at 107.4 Tower FM, said: "Everyone's really getting behind Laura and she's already shown she's got the XFactor. It's great for us that the producers have given permission so she can be on the radio every week giving listeners the backstage gossip."
