More calls for Nicky Campbell

BBC Radio 5 Live is to extend the breakfast show to include an hour-long phone in slot between 9am and 10am, whilst the midday news programme will be axed.

The breakfast show will continue to be hosted by Nicky Campbell and Shelagh Fogarty. Shelagh will start at 6am with Nicky joining her at 7.
The midday news will leave the schedule, with presenter Aasmah Mir hosting "a range of programmes on the station over the coming months," station bosses say.
Victoria Derbyshire's programme will move forward an hour, between 10am and 1pm, and will focus on original journalism – much of it coming direct from listeners.
5 Live Controller Adrian Van Klaveren said: "These changes will build on 5 Live's key strengths of talking about the issues which really matter to people and letting everyone have their say in a way which is intelligent, lively and engaging."
Nicky Campbell said: "It's great to be taking calls from listeners and hosting debate which I love doing, and still to be able to work with Shelagh is a double bonus."
The new BBC Radio 5 Live weekday schedule from 12 January 2009 will look like this:
6.00am 5 Live Breakfast
10.00am Victoria Derbyshire
1.00pm Simon Mayo
4.00pm Drive
7.00pm 5 Live Sport
10.00pm Richard Bacon
1.00am Up All Night
