City Talk 105.9 has signed a one year deal with Widnes Vikings rugby league team, which will see the Liverpool talk station's logo feature on the reverse of the team’s kit.
In return, the Vikings will gain on-air promotion and feature on City Talk’s website, in pod-casts, in the listener VIP clubs and be promoted by the station’s ‘Ground Crew’.
The link up with City Talk 105.9 is one the club hopes will open the game up to a whole new audience and introduce new fans to the Stobart Stadium, Halton.
The Vikings’ Commercial Manager Mike Banks is pleased with the new partnership which will see the Viking brand spread into Liverpool and across Merseyside: “Part of our strategy is to expand the Vikings’ fan base beyond its traditional boundaries of Halton and by welcoming City Talk 105.9 as a corporate partner we are opening a whole new chapter in the Club’s marketing history.
“City Talk already has a weekly rugby league programme and we look part to playing an increasing role in that and other shows broadcast by the station.”
City Talk’s Station Manager Richard Maddock is equally pleased with the new partnership: “Our region has a strong rugby league heritage and we are thrilled to be working with Widnes Vikings on some exciting initiatives to help promote the sport across the area.”
