Century raises £110k for CLIC

Scott and Glen, drive-time presenters at northwest regional station Century Radio have handed over a cheque for £110,000 to the station's 2008 nominated charity CLIC Sargent.

The station has been raising funds for CLIC Sargent via a number of events including the Legends Charity Cup, Kick for Children with Cancer, fun run’s like Monster Dash which took place in Lytham St Ann’s, the recent Santa Dash in Liverpool and their the first of their annual ‘Bring A Pound To Work Day.’
Dave Shearer, Century Radio Programming Consultant, said: “We are very proud to be able to present CLIC Sargent with this cheque for £110,000. The generosity of the people across the North West is fantastic and once again they surpassed themselves and we are all extremely grateful. The team here at Century Radio really worked hard across the year coming up with fresh ideas of how to raise money and I’m very proud of them all.”
Emily Felix-Davies, Events Fundraising Manager for CLIC Sargent added; “This is a tremendous achievement and thank you to everyone who has taken part in the fundraising events and helped make this possible. All funds were raised by listeners in the North West and these funds will stay in the North West-helping and supporting children and their families from the region facing a diagnosis of childhood cancer. This phenomenal sum of money will make such a difference; I can’t thank Century Radio and their listeners, enough.”
Century Radio, part of GMG Radio, will announce their nominated charity for 2009 during January.
