Parfitt joins Radio Academy

BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network controller is joining the Radio Academy's Trustees Board. He joins the likes of Martin Campbell, Bob Shennan and John Baish.

Trevor Dann, Director of the Radio Academy said in his weekly update: "I'm delighted to announce that Radio 1 Controller Andy Parfitt has accepted
an invitation from the Trustees to join our Board. He brings with him an enormous knowledge of pop music radio and great zeal for the Academy. It'll be a pleasure having him with us on what's bound to be a difficult journey through the next few years."
The Academy is also just one week away from their annual Hall of Fame Lunch, in which new members are induced. This year sees the introduction of Simon Bates, James Naughtie and Emperor Rosko, plus another un-announced major figure in contemporary British radio. The event, on December 8th, will be hosted by Ken Bruce in Grosvenor Square, London.
