Hoban to drive Merseyside home

BBC Radio Merseyside has hired Simon Hoban as the host of its new afternoon drive show.

Simon, originally from St Helens, starts his new show today (Thursday) and joins from BBC Radio Newcastle.

Simon spent nine years working in the North East, before which he worked in commercial radio and newspapers.

On his return home to Merseyside, Simon said: "It's brilliant, really exciting. The city has changed immeasurably. I visited quite a lot, so I've seen some of the growth, but coming back, it's really hit me. It's vibrant and buzzing.

Mick Ord, Managing Editor of Radio Merseyside, said: "It's great to have Simon on board, I'm sure he'll be a big hit with our listeners. He's a really good interviewer with a biting wit and a good knowledge of news and sport."
