Evans returns to television

BBC Radio 2 breakfast presenter Chris Evans is returning to television as co-host of BBC 1's The One Show each Friday.

Chris will co-host the new look hour-long Friday edition of the popular show, replacing Adrian Chiles.

Chris had a test run on the show last year, when he filled in for Chiles whilst he was on holiday. Since then Chris has taken over the breakfast show full time on BBC Radio 2.

He confirmed the news on [link=http://twitter.com/achrisevans/status/12094269530]Twitter[/link] this afternoon after the [link=http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/apr/12/friday-chris-evans-bbc-one-show]Guardian[/link] reported the story yesterday.

BBC One controller Jay Hunt said: "The One Show is without doubt one of our most popular programmes and I am thrilled that Chris will be joining such a successful team.

"His unique presenting style and infectious enthusiasm will be a great addition to the show."
