A new management structure is being introduced at East Midlands regional Heart 106 ahead of its re-launch as Gem 106 in January.
Kiron Willacy, previously with Galaxy Manchester, becomes Sales Director whilst Mercia's Mike Newman takes on the role of Programme Director.
Orion Media is making a "considerable" investment in the new station, recruiting additional staff and presenters. The station currently only provides a local breakfast and drivetime show on weekdays (plus mornings at weekends) with the rest of the output from London.
Mike told RadioToday.co.uk :"Our East Midlands station has huge audiences already – and we are looking forward to the challenge of providing a great AC service tailored to the Great East Midlands under our new brand."
Replacing Mike at Mercia is Paul Fairburn as MD/PD, formerly with Smooth Radio London before management and most presenters shifted to Salford Quays. He'll be joined by Richard Neale in an Executive Producer role.
