Rebrand for community station

Welsh community radio station Afan FM is to rebrand itself as XS in the New Year.

Afan FM launched in 2007, covering Neath Port Talbot and targeting itself at the 15-34 age group.

XS will launch on January 7th 2011 following test transmissions between Christmas and New Year as the Afan name disappears from the airwaves on Boxing Day.

Craig Williams, Afan FM's original founder has also returned to oversee the new station's launch as Chairman & Station Manager of [link=http://www.xswales.com]XS[/link].

Craig told RadioToday.co.uk: "As much as it breaks my heart to say goodbye to Afan FM – XS marks a brand new chapter in our history. XS will be a much bigger and better alternative for listeners, advertisers and the wider Neath Port Talbot community. I’m sure that XS will soon become everyone’s favourite new radio station when it launches in the New Year and I’m delighted to be coming ‘home’ to oversee this exciting new project."
