Bond covers wedding for Smooth

Former BBC Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond is joining the team covering this week's Royal Wedding for Smooth Radio.

She will be giving her thoughts and insights all week during Mark Goodier's show on the station ahead of the big day on Friday.

Smooth Radio will then be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey on the day of the wedding. Anchored by Simon Bates and Mark Goodier, the show will also have contributions from reporters within the crowds along the procession route as well as input from correspondents at street parties around the UK.

James Rea, GMG Radio’s Editorial Director said: "It’s great to have such a strong team to capture the royal moment of the year. This is an event that’s got the world talking and Smooth Radio will be at the heart of it."

As well as reading television news bulletins in the 90s, 60-year old Jennie was the BBC's Royal Correspondent between 1989 and 2003. Prior to that she was a producer and reporter in BBC Radio 1977-88.
