Absolute Radio has won a major marketing award for its iAd campaign which was used to promote the station’s Rock N Roll Football branded programmes and apps.
The station was among winners including major brands like Cadbury, o2, British Gas, Walkers and Costa at last night’s Marketing Society Awards for Excellence.
Absolute Radio’s iAd campaign had been shortlisted in the Mobile Marketing category up against Churchill Insurance, IBM, Nokia and Waitrose.
Chief Operating Officer Clive Dickens told RadioToday.co.uk: “It’s great to see a radio brand winning a Marketing Society Award alongside other big brand winners such as British Gas and O2, and beating the likes of Nokia, Waitrose and Churchill Insurance.”
When the campaign was launched, Absolute were the first radio brand to use Apple’s iAd platform. The group said it gave them ‘unprecedented targeting, plus an emotionally engaging interactive experience as well as the advantage of geo-targeting’. Creative agency Albion worked with Absolute to develop a concept that involved iPhone users in an ‘interactive and playful demonstration of what happens when football and music collide’.
