A not-for-profit, social enterprise company in Nottingham, which announced the return of Trent FM in June, has been forced to change its name to Trent Sound.
Global Radio, which owns the trademark Trent FM, wrote to the company informing them of infringing their trademark, and to cease any plans to launch as Trent FM.
Now the people behind Trent Sound say they still want to re-create the magic and fun of the original Radio Trent, and have announced June 13th as launch date.
Initially, the station will be available as a real-time stream over the internet at trentsound.com broadcast from bespoke studios in Bulwell.
Trent Sound programme controller Jay Lloyd: “We really want people to get involved. Whether they feel they have broadcast presentation skills, fancy trying their hand at some journalism, or have an idea for a programme, we genuinely want to hear for them. We can’t offer salaried jobs just yet, but we’ll certainly make volunteers very welcome and provide all the tea and coffee they can drink! For anyone wanting to gain valuable experience in broadcast media and support an essential service for Nottingham, this is the perfect opportunity.”
