Former Big Brother contestant and Heart West Midlands listener Alison Hammond is to co-present the station’s breakfast show for the day.
Alison – who now does celebrity interviews for ITV show This Morning – offered her own services when she heard Ed James’ regular co-host Rachel New was having a few days off.
She said: “I was in the car and heard that Rach wasn’t on the show. To me Ed sounded a bit lonely so I text Rachel asking her if I could help out and give Ed some company while she was away. She jumped at the chance and said Ed needed someone to keep him in check!”
Since her 15-day stint in the Big Brother house in 2002, Alison has appeared on TV shows including Loose Women, Celebrity Fit Club and Celebrity Stars in their Eyes.
She’ll be on the Heart West Midlands breakfast show tomorrow (Friday) morning. “I listen to Ed and Rachel most mornings and am honoured to be filling in for Rachel while she has the day off,” she told us. “I love chatting and having lots of fun and what better way to do this than on the biggest Breakfast Show in my home city. We most definitely will have some fun!”
Ed added: “I’ve known Alison for a while now and we’ve talked jokingly in the past about her being on the show. With Rach being off it was the natural choice to have her help out on the Show. With Alison being a born and bred Brummie, combined with her energy and fun personality I know our audience will love her.”
