Rick Vaughn leaves Bauer over competition

Radio City’s mid-morning presenter has left this week, with the station investigating an alleged breaking of its rules on promotions and competitions.

Rick Vaughn started out at the Liverpool station in the late 90s, before going on to work at stations including BRMB and Rock FM and returning to City in 2008.

Radio City told the Liverpool Echo that Vaughn had not adhered to Bauer Media’s strict rules over the handling of competition which ran late in 2011. Ofcom is understood to be investigating the matter.

Staff at the station were told earlier this week that Rick had left, and Simon Greening has been covering his show for the last few days.

A Radio City spokesperson told the Echo: “We can confirm that Rick Vaughn has left Radio City, as a direct result of his handling of a competition late last year. Bauer Media has strict codes of conduct in relation to the handling of promotions and competitions and it was subsequently discovered that Rick had not adhered to these codes. The integrity of our promotions and competitions is of paramount importance to us, our listeners and our customers, which is why we took action as soon as we discovered there had been an issue.”

Radio Today has approached Rick for a comment – we’ll update this story when he replies to our request.
