Classic FM interviews its jingle creator

As part of its 20th birthday celebrations, presenter Tim Lihoreau has interviewed David Arnold – composer of the station’s jingle package and melody which is still on-air today.

In the video David talks about how he got in to creating radio imaging – originally for Essex FM in 1981 when he offered his services to the station. He ended up making the jingles for the station. He went on to create the signature tune for Classic FM which he’s been composing and arranging since it’s launch in 1992.

“Its success is all thanks to the melody,” David says. “The memorable tune has been recorded by top classical artists like the Swingle Singers, Royal Philharmonic, Bryn Terfel, and Lesley Garrett, among others.

“Its stayed there for 20 years, so it must be quite a good tune!”
