Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra service ceased

The Extra service on DAB from Yorkshire Coast Radio has been scrapped, replaced by a copy of the FM service.

Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra launched at the beginning of this year promising opt-outs from Yorkshire Coast Radio, including some speech based programmes focussing on topics such as Business, Health and Motors. But a multiplex variation request to Ofcom now allows the station to provide a 100% simulcast of the FM output.

Instead, the content which was being made for DAB only listeners is now part of the FM service, as MD Chris Sigsworth tells RadioToday: “The content that we were providing on Yorkshire Coast Radio Extra was so well received by both listeners and advertisers that we have decided to make it available to our whole audience, with the launch of new show called ‘Coast Life’ broadcast each weekday between 6 and 7pm, across all platforms (FM, DAB, Online).

“Listeners can now enjoy the full service from Yorkshire Coast Radio, whatever platform they happen to be listening to us on.”
