Preston-based Community Radio Awards cancelled

One of the two competing Community Radio Awards (.com) events is no longer taking place.

Organisers at the Preston-based event say the cancellation is through a combination of health issues and family stresses.

A message on the website reads: “Our C.E.O will be going through a much needed surgery within the next few weeks, while other members of our team have had to deal with personal issues in recent months. We stress our sincerest apologies and couldn’t be more aggrieved that this decision has been taken, particularly considering all of the hard work put in by our whole team for almost a year.”

Any stations who have entered and paid to attend the ceremony, planned for the end of August, need to contact the organisers to arrange a refund.

“For all stations and individuals that have entered our awards we require a copy of a bank statement confirming your payment into our Paypal account, so we can return a full refund. Once again we offer our sincerest apologies.”

A second event, which has the support of the Community Media Association, is still scheduled to take place in Birmingham following the Community Media Association’s conference in September.
