Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts were present at the Jazz FM Awards yesterday as the Rolling Stones collected two awards for the recent Blues album “Blue and Lonesome”.
The event is organised by Jazz FM and hosted by Jez Nelson. It included support and sponsorship from Arqiva, RCS, PRS, PPL, Sharpstream and David Arnold Music – the man whose Jazz FM musical logo is still in use, 20 years on.
Jazz FM broadcast live from the event, with Nigel Williams backstage and on the Red Carpet from 7pm till 10pm. Highlights of the night are being played on-air today.
Nick Pitts told RadioToday: “The fact we could bring what is now the biggest event celebrating jazz in the genre’s calendar to not only the listeners of Jazz FM but the fans of the artists involved also, shows the immediacy and intimacy of radio. It was also great to have one of the Jazz FM originals in Jez Nelson so ably host the awards.”
Other winners at the event, held at the Shoreditch Town Hall in East London, included Laura Mvula, Georgie Fame, Damien Chazelle, Donny McCaslin, Jaimeo Brown, Shabaka Hutchings, and Gilles Peterson.
