Promotions for Greg Hughes and Mark Findlay at Global

Greg Hughes has been promoted to Group Head of Programming Operations at Global whilst Mark Findlay is promoted to Group Head of Music Relations.

The appointments have been made by Global’s new Director of Broadcasting James Rea, and more announcements are expected next week.

Greg will lead programming innovation and collaboration across all of Global’s brands with a remit to develop new talent both on and off air, manage new third-party content partnerships and continue to evolve Global’s innovation in programming.

Global says the new, innovative and forward-facing role has many different strands affording Hughes the opportunity to challenge Global’s existing projects, systems and policies and properly assess how to weave programming into absolutely everything, ensuring Global continues to be at the leading edge of the industry.

Greg was was formerly Deputy Managing Editor of Capital, having spent the last 11 years with Global, and 9 years on the Capital brand. He will report to Gareth Andrews in his role as Group Programming Operations Director.

Mark Findlay is promoted to Group Head of Music Relations. He will have a wider remit to work across playlists within the Global portfolio as well as continuing to bolster external artist relationships between Global and record companies, managers and artists, as well as other key partners.

Mark first joined the company in 2000 eventually becoming Head of Music at Capital in 2003, before moving into his current group role. Global says the promotion widens his remit and sees him take the lead in these key relationships. He will continue to work alongside Global’s Talent and Artist Relations Team, run by Jo Brock.

James Rea, Global’s Director of Broadcasting, told RadioToday: “I am absolutely delighted to further augment Global’s senior programming team. Greg is a fantastic asset to the company, and the perfect person to lead the team in innovation as we face new challenges in the worlds of radio, audio and video.

“Mark’s standing within the music industry needs no further introduction! This promotion is in recognition of the relationships that he has fostered over a long period of time as well as his deep understanding of Global’s brands and music.”
