Online radio station Beat 106 Scotland, using the name of the former FM regional dance music station, is celebrating a listener milestone and new DJs on the schedule.
The service claims to have received 100,000 listening sessions since it launched last month.
DJs Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, John Digweed, Joris Voorn and Sander van Doom are all part of the line-up.
Paul Oakenfold, who joins the new weekend line-up with a Saturday night show, commented, “It’s great to be on the airwaves again in Scotland. I have amazing memories of Beat 106 back in the day, so to be part of its resurrection feels really good. I can’t wait for Saturday night and hope everyone in Scotland and beyond tunes in.”
Station Founder, Richard Wilkinson, said “While Beat 106 Scotland is incredibly proud to be a Scottish radio station, we are very excited to welcome such major international names to the station. We have introduced nine new shows and DJs in total, so there really is something for everyone and anyone that loves dance music.
“The pandemic has had a very real and devastating impact on the night time music industry, which we consider ourselves – in some ways – to be part of. We feel extremely lucky to be growing and to be somewhat of a lifeline for people who are missing clubbing and live DJ sets. Nothing can ever match the power of being on a dance floor, but we hope Beat 106 comes pretty close.
“We have been truly overwhelmed by the response so far. Not only have we attracted our “old” listeners, but we’ve also noticed a big influx of younger listeners who are choosing Beat 106 Scotland ahead of other, perhaps more commercial, stations.”
