Former Key 103, Heart NW/Wales and Imagine FM breakfast presenter Spence Macdonald is joining Imagine Radio to host the breakfast show.
He’ll replace David Ditchfield who left the Stockport-based station recently.
Spence will join on 11th January marking a return for himself to the station, as he previously hosted breakfast on the frequency when it changed from Signal FM to Imagine FM in 2000.
Like Media Group’s Programme Controller, Paul Willett, told RadioToday: “Having worked with Spence in the past I know how he will relate to our listeners, having lived and broadcast around the area for many years.
“Spence will bring a breath of fresh air to the show and will make great entertaining and relevant content for the listeners of Imagine Radio around the South Manchester and Cheshire area.”
I'm very pleased to announce after 6 months off air I am joining @ImagineRadioUK to present the Breakfast Show from January 11th. These are exciting times for truly local radio and I can't wait to get started and become a minor local celebrity, as my GP once described me, again! pic.twitter.com/D4m6rtNFYy

Spence added: “I can’t wait to get back on the air after my longest enforced break in broadcasting in my career and doing what I love best – The Breakfast Show. Imagine has come a long way since I first presented Breakfast back in the day and now, more than ever, it’s so important to connect with your local audience and keep them in touch and entertained.
“Truly local radio is my passion and I am so looking forward to taking Imagine Radio to the next level and interacting with the listeners in my home patch.”
Imagine Radio has just been given permission to create a new bespoke approved area for its Buxton and Stockport FM local radio licences, allowing it to share all programmes upon approval of Format changes.
