Rode brings out wireless handheld microphone with onboard recording

It’s day one of the NAB Show in Las Vegas and Rode has announced three new products including a wireless microphone which may be of interest to radio producers and presenters.

The Interview PRO is a broadcast-quality wireless handheld microphone with onboard recording for use with RØDE wireless systems.

Its feature set is similar to the previous industry-standard FlashMic from HHB, which cost around a thousand pounds before it was discontinued.

Now, the Interview Pro is available for pre-order at $249.

It has onboard recording to hold around 40 hours, 25 hours of operation from a rechargeable battery, 200m range, and connects to phones or cameras via the current Wireless GO and Wireless ME systems, or directly to a Rodecaster Pro mixer.

Rode has also announced two other products today, a phone cage and a magnetic mount.

The mount will hold items such as microphones, lights and other accessories to any MagSafe iPhone or MagSafe-compatible smartphone case or accessory.

“We are extremely excited to reveal these three new products at NAB today,” says RØDE CEO Damien Wilson.

“RØDE has been helping creators capture incredible content with their phones since the early days of smartphone technology. We pioneered the plug-and-play smartphone mic category with innovations like the VideoMic Me and iXY, and more recently, with the VideoMic NTG and VideoMic GO II.

“Last year we released RØDE Capture, the first video app designed specifically for today’s creators. And we invented the world’s first wireless microphone that was universally compatible with mobile devices, the Wireless GO II, which kickstarted a revolution in smartphone content creation.

If you are at NAB, you can see the products at booth C8316.
