Next year’s National Student Radio Conference is to be held at the University of Bradford between 2nd and 4th April.
The Student Radio Association say the event will again feature speakers from around the industry as well as a chance for live critique of upcoming presenters in the ‘Demo Factor’ session.
Last year’s conference was held at the University of Hertfordshire and previous member stations to have hosted the three day event in recent years include those in Southampton, Nottingham, Leeds and Bath.
The University of Bradford is the home of RamAir 1350am, which was founded in 1980 and is one of the UK’s longest-established student radio stations. RamAir was the first student radio station to broadcast legally on an FM RSL and also the first to broadcast via the Nintendo Wii and Playstation 3 home entertainment consoles. Alumni from the station include former Pulse, Galaxy, Capital, Absolute and Planet Rock presenter Lucio as well as Fresh Radio’s Matt Cain who’s a former breakfast presenter on The Pulse.
Bradford-based UTV station The Pulse has already pledged their support for the SRA Conference in the city, and other groups and stations are expected to help out through sponsorship or supplying guest speakers.
Chair of the Student Radio Association, Fred Bradley, said: “We’re all very much looking forward to visiting Bradford in April. The campus has fantastic facilities and we are especially pleased with the level of support that RamAir are being given by the University and their Students’ Union. The conference is not just for those looking to become presenters. Sessions will give delegates an opportunity to explore a wide range of areas relating to radio broadcasting. In previous years, the conference has tackled everything from playlists to podcasting and from scheduling to specialist music; with an emphasis on practical advice that students can take home and put to use at their own station”
Registration for the National Student Radio Conference 2012 will open in January. The event takes place 2-4 April 2012.
