Academy hosts event on getting into radio

The North East branch of the Radio Academy is holding an event to offer tips on getting into our industry.

The session at the University of Sunderland next month will feature a panel including representatives from Bauer, GMG, the BBC and Amazing Radio.

We’re told the session will ask whether there are secrets to be learned about how to break into radio, and if being in the right place at the right time is more important than talent and hard work.

All five panelists for the event on 1st May are media graduates from the University of Sunderland:

Tom Cotton (Head of Music, Amazing Radio)
Gaynor Marshall (Producer, Nightowls, Metro Radio)
Ross Mitchell (Broadcast Assistant, BBC Radio Leeds/BBC introducing)
Chris Stevens (Group Deputy Programme Director, GMG Radio)
Vicky Warham (Presenter, Q Radio/Rock FM)

The event is free for Radio Academy members and £10 for non-members. Active members of radio stations that are part of the HBA or SRA may be able to attend for free as affiliate members. There are also some free places available for students.
