New website for Global Radio’s Classic FM

The UK’s only national FM radio station, Classic FM, has launched a new website, which it claims will become the ‘world’s biggest online classical music destination’.

The Global Radio station is celebrating its 20th anniversary later this year.

The new site has been designed in-house by the group’s Leicester Square-based interactive team who tell us it follows a year of research and development.

For the first time, classicfm.com features an option for listeners to click to buy tracks that they hear played on air, while there is also a diary showing classical concerts, lists of recommended recordings and classical music news. The station also says the new site boasts audio, video and image databases of hundreds of classical music composters and artists.

Darren Henley, Managing Director of Classic FM, said: “When Classic FM launched in 1992, we rewrote the rulebook on how people listened to classical music on the radio. Two decades on, we’re reinventing the way listeners engage with classical music in the digital world. And this is just the start. We have a whole host of exciting new innovations that we will roll out on classicfm.com during the year ahead.”
