BBC Three Counties Radio and Heart will broadcast their breakfast shows from The National Radio Centre to mark the switch-on of local DAB.
The two stations, along with Global Radio’s Gold and Capital will be the first occupants of the Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire multiplex.
However, JACK fm, Xfm, Chill and UCB UK are missing from the line-up, despite being on the original licence application which was won six years ago.
The launch event is taking place on Thursday 14th February with the switch being flicked at 8:30am by the Chairman of MK Dons and local MPs. Coverage of MK Dons historic FA Cup 6th Round home match will take place two days later and be available on DAB.
The multiplex licence was won by NOW Digital in 2007, owned at the time by GCap Media. At the time, NOW said it would launch the service by July 2008 using a network of seven transmitters.
Over 1.8 million people living in the three counties’ area will receive local DAB services for the first time, adding to the current national offerings. It’ll be the first time Capital is available in the area.
Event coverage will be on BBC Three Counties Radio with Iain Lee and Heart with Stuart and Natalie, and you can see photos and updates from RadioTodayLIVE with Arqiva.
