Smooth Country has just appeared on the Global Player app, and online via the Smooth Radio website.
The new service plays “the most relaxing country songs” and is part of the “playlists” section in the Global Player. It features the same jingles and voice-overs as the main service.
Global says: “Smooth Country celebrates the very best of relaxing country music, to make you feel as if you’re chilling with the top down of a Chevy on a long drive across the heart of Nashville.
“The digital station will play country artists from past and present, from Dolly Parton to Taylor Swift to Lady Antebellum.”
There are no more details of any schedule or presenters available at this stage (just a webpage), but we have contacted Global for more information and will update this story if we hear back.

Bit of a misleading headline that!
I thought they had just launched on DAB, getting the jump on Bauer’s new country music service.
It’s great news. Hope they play Ronnie Cannon singing ” Rocky Top” . He,s on You Tube at ” Ronnie Cannon Sings”.
How about putting it on traditional radio as well?
I can not pick up this new country music station online at all.
Will I be able to get it on DAB in Glasgow?.
WSM country radio Nashville can be heard on line, I rang them up once to say i was listening, and found myself on ” Bill Cody,s Breakfast Show”. Bill is a big uk football fan.
I think Global should remove Smooth Extra and replace it with Smooth Country, or at least put it on Tunin so you would be able to listen on a smart speaker
It is on TuneIn in the United States listed as smooth country UK
Its a little bit country.
Interesting they regard Lionel Ritchie as country.
Yes the first song I heard when I turned in was indeed Lionel Richie…crazy…its just a stream of repeated tracks anyway. I’ve already heard the same songs again next day…thankfully many real country stations exist online
