Bauer Media’s Manchester station Key 103 has apologised after a staff member asked an inappropriate question on Facebook about a former Coronation Street actress.
The station opened a Facebook poll asking if people ‘loved or loathed’ Helen Flanagan, with comments made on-air and online during the breakfast show with Adam Catterall and Chelsea Spokes.
The station has since tweeted: Yesterday some comments were made on air and on Facebook about Helen Flanagan for that we sincerely apologise.
Listeners replied saying the station was promoting bullying and trolling. A spokesperson told the Manchester Evening News that the post was removed when senior management found out about it.
“The wording of the posting was inappropriate and as soon as it was seen by our senior team at the station it was taken down. We are now in discussions with the staff member responsible for the posting.”
The Daily Mail and Mirror have also picked up on the story.
