Liam Thompson, Group Programme Director for Ireland-based Communicorp has been appointed as Content Director for Magic 105.4, replacing Pete Simmons.
Liam will leave his position in Dublin to lead the content and programming team in London and be responsible for the strategic, creative and inspirational direction of all aspects of Magic 105.4’s content, reporting to Steve Parkinson, Managing Director of Bauer Radio London.
Pete Simmons left Bauer Media late last year after five years running Magic 105.4.
He told RadioToday: “I am really excited at the prospect of working at Bauer Media and the opportunity to be involved with such an instantly recognisable and totally unique brand. From Neil Fox and Angie Greaves, to Denise Van Outen, Rick Astley and Kim Wilde, there is a wealth of talent and experience at Magic’s disposal and I can’t wait to get started.”
Steve Parkinson, Managing Director, Bauer Radio London, said: “We look forward to welcoming Liam to the Magic team. He brings extensive programming and creative experience and expertise to a very talented team. 2014 promises to be another great year for the station.”
Liam has been Group Programme Director for Communicorp since 2007 with a brief that covered 42 stations in nine different countries. Last year he also led the programming team at Today FM, Ireland’s biggest independent station.
During his time at Communicorp, Liam launched Spin 1038 in 2002. He has also launched the Spin format in South West Ireland as well as in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia and Jordan.
