Following the announcement by Bauer to network the Hits Radio breakfast show and consolidate its property portfolio, RadioToday can bring you more details on the move.
Only four main broadcasting hubs will remain across the UK – London, Manchester, Glasgow and Belfast, supported by three small production centres in Edinburgh, Newcastle and Leeds.
Bauer will no longer have a base in Wales, and all other studio buildings currently used will be closed.
They are:
- Aberdeen
- Birmingham
- Fareham
- Inverness
- Lincoln
- Redruth
- Sheffield
- Swansea
The closures will occur at different times once the local breakfast shows end later this year.
Any staff remaining locally will use serviced offices or have other working arrangements made.
Bauer has been closing buildings on an ad-hoc basis over the last few years, including St Johns Beacon (The Radio City Tower) in Liverpool, St Paul’s Square in Preston (Rock FM) and its Carlisle offices for CFM.
In Liverpool, the Radio City branding remains on the side of the building, but RadioToday understands Bauer will no longer be pursuing the task of updating the logo to Hits Radio.
