New InTune tool launched to support music creators’ health

PRS Members’ Fund and BAPAM have announced the launch of InTune, a new digital platform created to support the health and wellbeing of music creators.

InTune will be available to use from 3 June this year and is designed for songwriters, composers and musicians to get personalised insights into their physical and mental wellbeing.

The tool includes health self-assessments, strategies for dealing with creative blocks, support with financial worries and advice on sustaining a healthy career in music.

It has been developed by BAPAM, the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine, who provide clinical expertise and specialist care for people in the performing arts.

InTune has been clinically reviewed and is not a replacement for medical care, but it does signpost users to relevant health services and aims to help creators access targeted support quickly.

The PRS Members’ Fund, which provides financial and practical help for PRS songwriters and composers, has made the tool free to use.

John Logan from PRS Members’ Fund said the aim is to provide practical support to those facing the unique pressures of working in music.

BAPAM CEO Claire Cordeaux said: “Research shows that seventy-five percent of musicians and composers will have an injury or illness that impacts their career. Many of these problems are preventable. With most musicians and composers working in freelance positions, it is vital that they are supported with specialist, clinically sound health and wellbeing support.”

The launch of InTune comes at a time when more musicians are speaking publicly about their health needs, including Chappell Roan and Sam Fender.
