A new free eBook is aiming to help students explore modern careers in radio and audio.
‘Sound Advice: A Guide to Navigating Careers in the Modern and Future Radio Digital Media Landscape’ has been written by broadcaster Earl Pilkington and released by Radio Copy Paste magazine.
The guide is designed for secondary school and university students considering creative, technical or commercial roles in today’s radio industry.
Earl, who has over 40 years of experience in broadcasting, says most radio career guides “haven’t been updated since the 1990s”.
He adds: “It provides an up-to-date, global look at where radio is heading – and how students can find their place in it.”
The 40-page eBook gives an overview of current and emerging roles across on-air programming, engineering, sales, digital content and voice tech. It also covers career-building strategies including education options, internships and self-directed learning.
There is specific information for those looking to enter the industry locally or internationally, including advice on how to bridge the gap between traditional broadcasting and new digital platforms.
The eBook is being promoted to school and university career counsellors, media studies educators and job-seeking students.
It’s available to download free at radiocopywriters.com.
