BBC Studios launches tech podcast The Interface

A new weekly podcast will examine how technology is shaping everyday life, with BBC Studios launching The Interface across audio, video and digital platforms.

The Interface will debut on Thursday 12 February, offering listeners a regular analysis of the ways technology influences society, politics and personal behaviour, with an emphasis on clarity, context and humour rather than hype.

The programme is hosted by Thomas Germain, Karen Hao and Nicky Woolf, bringing together experience across privacy reporting, artificial intelligence and investigations into major technology platforms. Episodes will be released weekly, with availability on BBC Sounds in the UK and on BBC.com internationally, alongside a video version for global audiences on the BBC Podcasts YouTube channel.

BBC Studios says the podcast is built around asking who is shaping the digital world and why, while remaining accessible to listeners without specialist knowledge. The hosts aim to reflect how technology is discussed in real life, focusing on practical consequences rather than abstract trends.

The trio said: “We might not always have all the answers, but we can promise to help make it a less terrifying ride. Most of the time, anyway.”

Philip Sellars, Executive Producer of The Interface and Executive Editor of Formats at BBC Studios Audio, said the show reflects how audiences currently engage with technology, combining analysis with curiosity and humour, and is designed to work for both UK and international listeners.

The Interface is produced by BBC Studios Audio for BBC Sounds in the UK and BBC.com globally, with weekly episodes starting from 12 February.
